Alto Appennino Reggiano Regional Park, also known as "Parco del Gigante", was established with a 1988 Regional Law in the Municipalities of Busana, Collagna, Ligonchio, Ramiseto, and Villa Minozzo. It was later abolished with Regional Law no. 6/2005 (art. 70) after the establishment of Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park. The National Park includes in Emilia not only most of Alto Appennino Reggiano Park, but also the Upper Valley of the stream Parma, already belonging to Alta Val Parma e Cedra Regional Park, and the isolated rock Pietra di Bismantova with the nearby Triassic Gypsum Formations of Secchia.
